review your annual goals

How to Review your Annual Goals to Stay on Track

To achieve your annual goals it’s important to review them at least every quarter. Monthly is ideal but quarterly should be the minimum. In fact, every week you should be taking action towards your goals.

Goals need to be set so they can be tracked and measured. This is why I always suggest writing SMART goals. This is easy to do using my goal planning worksheet that I make available to download for free.

I also make available my Year in Review/Plan for the Year workbook. This enables you to review your previous year and plan your coming year. I have been doing this for many years and it helps me learn from my past year and stay focused on what I want to achieve moving forward.

Some goals are easy to track and measure, like losing 20lbs. You just start with your present weight and weigh yourself daily or weekly to see if your plan is working. If not you find out what you need to adjust and do it.

Other goals can be more difficult to track and measure. For example you can set a goal to feel more peace in your life and measure that by asking yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 how peaceful you are feeling daily or weekly.

The important thing is to schedule time in your calendar to do the reviews, whether it is monthly or quarterly. Otherwise your plans and goals can be easily forgotten and you end up at the end of the year feeling frustrated and unhappy with yourself.
